L.A. Dreams (2025)
Jazzlyn Bizzotto

Transcript

It was the summer of 1986. Janice got out of the car, shutting off the radio that was playing "99 Luftballons". She finally arrived to the apartment of her dreams in the city of Los Angeles. Janice had been working all of her summers as a secretary at a paper company while also going to college to be an engineer. When she graduated from College in 1984, she landed an engineering job with Ford Motor Company back in Detroit. However, her true passion was to be a music artist, one of the greats like Madonna, Michael Jackson or Paula Abdul. She decided to take a big leap of faith, quit her engineering job and use the money she saved from that job and her previous desk job to put a lease down on the apartment. Fast forward a couple years and she was finally moving out to L.A. in hopes of making connections and landing a record deal. When she looked up to the sky, she saw a bunch of balloons flying up to the sky that looked like it came behind her apartment. She decided to investigate further and take a look at her apartment. She went inside her apartment, it was lofty, comfortable, but it had a childishly small kitchen. There was an upstairs, but that can wait, where did the balloons come from? She came through the backdoor to a fenced in backyard and couldn't find anything. Janice murmured to herself, "Where did those balloons come from?" and then she smiled. "Those balloons were meant for me." "Who cares where it came from? What matters is that I made it to Los Angeles!"
